Meet the Team
Demir Miljkovic
Owner
Demir started Better Builders in 2015 after over 10 years working in the construction industry. His desire to improve the homeowner’s experience in construction has been his motivation to grow Better Builders over the last decade.
Demir is also a full-time firefighter with a wife and three kids. In the little free time he does have, he enjoys watching Iowa football and deer hunting.
Dana Hill
Office Manager
Dana has been part of the Better Builders team since 2021, serving as the company’s Office Manager. She plays a key role in keeping the day-to-day operations running smoothly, handling everything from payroll and financials to answering phones.
One of Dana’s favorite things about Better Builders is being part of a family-owned company that treats its employees like family. She appreciates the close knit environment and the people who make coming to work enjoyable every day.
Dana loves spending time with her boyfriend, Brandan, and their 5-year-old daughter, Audrey. As a family, they are loyal Iowa State Cyclone fans and enjoy cheering on the Clones whenever they get the chance. When she’s not working or spending time with her family, you’ll likely find Dana enjoying a night out with friends, catching some live music, or simply making the most of a good time!
Keaton Gifford
Sales/Business Development Manager
Keaton has been part of the Better Builders team since 2020, currently working as the Sales/Business Development Manager after starting out as a Sales/Project Manager. Keaton was a deck installer before starting at Better Builders.
He specializes in covered deck structures and custom screens, with a particular focus on sun screens, fireplaces, and heaters. He also specializes in building efficient operations and systems so projects run smoothly.
Outside of work, Keaton enjoy spending time with his wife and 3 kids. He enjoys being outdoors by hunting and boating with friends and family.
Austin Galvan
Sales Manager
Austin has been part of the Better Builders team since 2022, currently working as the Sales Manager. Austin was drawn to Better Builders because of the challenge and complexity of the jobs that Better Builders completes.
Austin specializes in helping homeowners design their outdoor space and bring their dream to reality. Austin has been known for providing outstanding communication and keeping his homeowners informed throughout the entire project.
Outside of work, Austin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Austin also enjoys attending bible study and volunteering at a local ministry group for at risk youth. Austin currently serves in the Iowa Army National Guard and has completed 12 years of service.
Carter Frick
Sales Representative
Carter has been part of the Better Builders team since early 2025, currently working as a sales representative. He previously worked in the masonry field running heavy equipment.
Carter specializes in problem solving and communication, ensuring each customer's new space meets their functional needs.
Outside of work, Carter is on the golf course when the weather's nice or going on walks with his wife, Madi, and dog Ryder Pup. In the fall he enjoys watching the Hawkeyes on Saturday and taking his dog bird hunting.
Christian Dorey
Project Manager
Christian has been a Project Manager with the Better Builders team since December 2025. He was drawn to Better Builders because of the company’s commitment to quality and strong focus on communication.
In his role, Christian specializes in material and schedule management, with an emphasis on keeping customers informed about expectations, timelines, and project progress. He has also developed strong relationships with local suppliers, helping to ensure materials are allocated and delivered on schedule.
Outside of work, Christian enjoys spending time outdoors hiking with his wife and training his dog, Frank. If you see Christian on-site, be sure to ask him about some of his favorite hiking spots!
Joe Ruedy
Superintendent
Joe has been part of the Better Builders team since early 2025, currently serving as a Field Supervisor. What initially drew Joe to Better Builders was the company’s 5-star reputation and, most importantly, its genuine commitment to customer service.
With an extensive background in home exteriors, Joe specializes in material matching and sourcing. He handles many of the day-to-day field operations, ensuring crews have everything needed to keep projects moving smoothly. Joe helps ensure every project is completed efficiently and with attention to detail.
Outside of work, Joe is a proud dad of four. His favorite activities include family bike rides and taking his kids out to ride their 4-wheelers and go-karts. His life revolves around his children, and he spends much of his free time supporting their many extracurricular activities, including dance, volleyball, show choir, wrestling, softball, and baseball.
For Joe, being part of Better Builders is about more than getting the job done—it’s about helping create a great experience for every customer while being part of a team that truly cares.
